1. Working in the Medical Field
Being a professional in the medical field is extremely rewarding – and from multiple points of view. From the fact that you get the chance to actually save lives to the fact that the average salary of someone working in this industry is quite high, the number of benefits is definitely very attractive.
You don’t have to be an actual doctor to be in the medical field. In fact, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and certified registered nurse anesthetists can earn very well – and most of them do a job that is very similar to that of a doctor (they can prescribe pills, they can cure illnesses and they can even participate in surgeries – such as in the case of the nurse anesthetists for example).
What do these professionals make and what would you have to do in order to start a career in this direction? A nurse practitioner makes about $85,000 every year, a physician’s assistant makes about 92,000 every year and a nurse anesthetist makes (on average!) $189,000. If you want to become a nurse practitioner or a physician’s assistant, you will have to take a Master’s degree in this field – and if you want to become a nurse anesthetist, you will have to have one year of experience in being a certified nurse (and then to sit a nationally accredited exam). Even more than that, considering the fact that the population is aging, you can definitely expect the demand for nurses and medical professionals to increase over the following decades too.
